A no BS column on what it's like to build a company without an abundance of resources or friends in high places by Melissa Kwan, Cofounder and CEO of eWebinar.
Hi Melissa, I have been following your journey for last two years as I am entering in space of bootstrap entrepreneur . Can you share some resources like book , course etc which has helped you to become a good writer?
Hi Ankur, thank you so much for your support and compliment here. I didn't learn how to write anywhere...I've always been a salesperson, so I think the storytelling aspect of what I've learned there helps. I've always written (not professionally), and have always been good at expressing myself and putting thoughts and feelings into words. The philosophy I take when writing is I write as if I'm speaking to someone. Because that's what I want my pieces to sound like, I want it to sound like a natural conversation. No big words, short sentences, easy to understand, nothing fancy. I only write what inspires me that day or week. I never force it. When I'm stuck, I go back to "how would I say this to someone in person"? This post only applies to LinkedIn, but it gives you an idea of my process: https://www.linkedin.com/feed/update/urn:li:activity:7118219414100942848/ Mostly, I just try to express myself to a friend. I hope that's helpful in some way!
