This experiment perfectly captures why some people keep stumbling into oportunities while others miss them entirely. The anxiety link is fascinatin because it shows how our internal state literally shapes what we percieve as available to us. I've noticed this pattern with founders who are so locked into their original plan that they miss obvious pivots staring them down.

Reminds me of one of the best advice I ever got: Don’t marry your idea (after I kept pitching a bad idea I wouldn’t let go of 😅). I’m embarrassed thinking about it…

Super interesting, I just had a discussion about this with my partner. And we are both think we are «lucky» with the life we have but as well think it’s due to being able to see opportunities and take a risk.

Very true ☺️ One thing we wondered about though: how does one learn (or teach) that? Any suggestion?

This one is tough but I imagine it starts with surrounding yourself with people who are position and see taking risks as a lifestyle. This might be a good question for our friend ChatGPT :)

Good idea, I’ll try it out!

Risk and new opportunities make for great stories. Is there any other way to live??

I had never heard of a scientific experiment to measure the outcomes of people who feel "lucky" vs people who do not. Fascinating!
